Author's POV

The morning sun peeked out from the sky. The rays fell on Meera's face and she squeezed her eyes a little.
"Meera. Bachha wake up." Shanti's voice came and the door knocked.
Meera stirred in her sleep but then suddenly she sat up straight as she remember that what is going to happen today. She took her dupatta and wrapped it around her shoulder before opening the door.
"Jii chachi." She said after the door opened.
"Beta come downstairs and eat something. Once the funtion will start, you will not be able to eat anything." Chachi said and a tight knot formed in Meera's stomach.
She nodded and locked the door again.
"Huh.... I don't even have any other choice. What should I do now? I'm just trapped." She said with a sigh accepting her fate silently.
Meera's POV

What if he don't allow me to step outside?? Nevermind, I don't even look outside. But, what if he force himself on me? I can't go through all this again. I don't have any strength left now to feel that fear again.
Will anyone ever love me after knowing my past?
Will I ever be loved??
The chain of my thoughts broke as I heard the knock on my room's door.
"Are you ready beta?" Chachu said.
"Jii Chachu." I replied before taking my dupatta.
I went downstairs and sat on the table.
"Beta today you will leave this house. You are happy with this marriage right??" Chachi asked
"Yes chachi." I replied. I lied. Because how can anyone be happy when it knows that it is getting bounded by its biggest fear.
"Dii let's go for shopping today." Aarti said and fear crept on me by the mere thought of stepping outside.
"No..." I replied my voice barely above a whisper.
"Please dii. It's your last day with me." Aarti said with so much love and plea in her voice that I couldn't deny and I agreed.
Though I am really scared to step out of the house. Those aunties will taunt me again. I haven't stepped out of the house since 3 years.
"Let's go dii." Aarti said and grabbed my wrist. I didn't even get a chance to say something and she just took her purse and dragged me outside.
Shiver ran down my spine as the air brushed my face.
"Come na dii." Aarti said and started dragging me towards the street.
We went to a mall. I was quiet all the time. We purchased items. Wait only she purchased. I didn't buy anything. She chose the jhumkas and some kurtis for me.
Everything was fine. I felt that probably the world outside is beautiful...Β as my eyes caught a garden covered with bloomung flowers. The purple orchids.
A thought crashed my mind β Maybe.... I can step out now. But then---
"Arey dekho to ye wahi ladki he na. Dekho aaj kese bina sleeves ki kurti pehen ke ghum rahi he." A voice came from behind. Aarti turned slowly and went to those aunties.
(Ohh see see. This is that girl only right?? See how shamelessly she is roaming around by wearing sleeveless clothes.)
"Oo Aunty dusro ko comment karne se pehle zara apna pet dekhiye." Aarti shouted and everyone started looking at us. Men present their also started looking at me and I grabbed Aarti's wrist and dragged her to our home.
(Hey Aunty. First look at your belly before commenting on others.)
"Didi wait yaar. Let me give them the taste of their own medicine." She said and I replied "Just ignore them and walk."
She started walking and soon we reached our home.
"Don't tell chacha and chachi about me." I said and she tried to deny but then nodded in agreement.
"Are beta you came? Come sit I will bring water for you." Chachi said
"It's okay chachi." I said but she already went to the kitchen. So, we both sat and drank water.
"Now I am going to my room." I said but chachi stopped me.
"Meera its your last day here. Atleast talk with us today." She insisted.
"Yes dii. Come sit and let's show Maa what have we bought." Aarti said making me sit.
"Wait Maa. What about the workers?" Aarti asked her.
"They already came. The work will be completed in 2hrs." Chachi said and a tight knot formed in my stomach.
"I want to rest for sometime. I am going." I said quickly and left for my room before anyone could protest further.
I locked my room and sat on the bed. I was trying to cry but this time, the tears also gave up. Huh.... What can I expect?? I have cried for 2 years. Today my tears also ran dry.

Soon the sun sat and the moon started peeking from behind the clouds. The home staryed buzzing with chatters and arrangements.
"Meera beta..." Chachi shouted from downstairs.
I took my dupatta wrapped it around my shoulders and left my room. I went downstairs and saw a makeup artist standing there with chachi. She gave me a warm smile and I tried to return it but failed miserably.
How can I even smile in this situation??
"Beta she will ready you. Please take her to your room." Chachi said and I nodded.
I gestured her to come with me and she followed me. I led her to my room.
"Mam can you please go and remove your lenses and wash your face first. Before we start the makeup." She said.
"Okay...." I said and left.
I came out of the washroom and she said "Mam please remove your lenses. It's compulsory."
"These are my real eyes. I didn't wear lenses." I replied lowly.
"Ohhh... I am sorry. But, you are really a god gifted beauty." She complimented and I nodded.
What am I supposed to say?? I don't know. I am an introvert person and a broken soul.
She started getting me ready.

Soon I was fully ready with lehenga and makeup. I looked at my reflection in the mirror.
I was really looking beautiful but somehow the ugliness of my past is betraying the beauty. I can't do anything now.

"You are looking so beautiful diiii." Aarti exclaimed barging in my room.
I smiled or maybe tried to.
Rehan's POV

I reached her home and everything was ready. My workers did a great job.
I was dressed in a sherwani which was extremely uncomfortable. Ohh Goddd. Can't they choose a comfortable attire for the wedding of a person like me.
(A/N β Bhai ko sherwani me maut aa ri he. Yaha bhi comfort chahiye. Lehenga pehnana tha ise mujhe..*eye roll*)

Anyway ignoring everything I walked straight to the Pavilion and sat.
They all welcomed me very well.. They showed great hospitality.
Soon the Pandit ordered to bring the bride.
As soon as she descended the stairs and came beside me, something in my chest tightened.
I mean. She looks beautiful
But her attire. I wonder how uncomfortable she must be in that heavy attire.
Wait.... Why I am observing her this much. She will be with me for just 1 year. That's it....
Anyways she is beautiful.
The priest started chanting mantras.
Then he ordered her parents to come forward for Kanyadaan.
They came forward and started performing the ritual. As soon as they kept her hand in mine, she started shivering. I can easily see her shoulders stiffening. Her hands trembling and something in me flickered and I held her hand carefully with my ones.
Thankfully, she stopped shivering. But, why the hell I am being so nice. I am not like this to anyone. Then why her???

"Aaj se aap dono Pati-Patni hue.
As the priest announced it, everyone erupted into cheers.
(From today you both are husband-wife.)
Why is everyone here so dramatic??
I looked at her and saw a tear rolling down her cheeks. Probably because now, she has to leave her house.
We both stood up and took everyone's blessings.
I was standing near my car and watching her crying in her sister, mother and father's arms. Everyone were sad. After half hour of crying session, she came to me.
"Should we go now?" I asked her. She nodded.Β we walked to the car and settled inside it. She was struggling with her heavy lehenga. So, I lifted it and placed it carefully.
(A/N - Bhaiii ki harkate full green flags wali he.. huh...badha aya MAFIA!)
But something caught my attention. She literally flinched so badly and shut her eyes very tightly.
I mean, Am I not going to eat her. Why is she behaving like that??
"Are you fine?" I asked her to assure myself.
She shrugged and nodded.
