β˜†The Marriage Proposal

Author's POV

Sir we finally got some information about that family." A man said.

"Go on" Rehan instructed

"There are total four members in that house. Chandan, Shanti, Aarti and Meera. Aarti is Chandan and Shanti's daughter and Meera is Chandan's brother's daughter. She is an orphan so her uncle and aunt had adopted her. The girl we met few days ago is Meera. She is the eldest daughter." He spoke giving all the information.

"Good job. I will go with the proposal tonight alone." Rehan said before sipping his wine.

"Meera what are you doing?" Shanti asked her.

She is in her room since morning and hasn't came out for lunch.

Shanti was about to knock again but she opened the door. Her eyes were red and puffy. Clearly showing that she was crying her lungs out. But, Shanti didn't say anything.

"Come downstairs have your lunch beta." She said.

"Okay Chachi." She replied and started walking downstairs with Shanti.

They all sat around the table. Shanti and Aarti served everyone food and they ate quietly.

"Beta, I want to ask you something." Chandan spoke to Meera.

"Jii chachu." She said.

"Are you comfortable if we talk about your marriage." He asked and Meera fidgeted the hem of her dupatta.

"See beta. You are the elder one in the family. Aarti is also 25. You should get married now because life is too long to spend alone. You will need a partner to understand your feelings." He spoke again amd Meera nodded.

"Jii chachu. I am ready to marry." She replied like a robot. Her words left her mouth before her brain could even process it and everyone smiled.

She ate and locked herself in the room again.

"Now, i will talk to my friend's son about her marriage." Chandan said.

"But when?? And will he agree to marry Meera??" Shanti asked.

"Tomorrow. Let's see will he agree or not." Chandan replied and Shanti and Aarti nodded.

On the other side Rehan was getting ready to torture his enemy. The very person who murdered his parents and snatched his younger brother from him.

He drove to an old house and unlocked the door. He started walking towards the basement.

A man probably in his 30s was tied on a chair so tightly that his wrists got bruised. His mouth covered with a black tape. His body was looking like a rotten apple.. His breathing ragged and eyes void of any emotion as if he has seen his death standing just a miles away from him but can't somehow reach it.

Rehan walked to the chair and fisted the man's hair to lift his head upwards. He took out a blade and marked a cut on his left cheek.

"This is for killing my father." Rehan said.
The man groaned in pain as blood oozed out from his chhek.

Then, he marked another cut and said "This is for killing my mom."
The man cried out in pain as more blood came out.

He marked one more cut "This is for taking my brother away from me."

"Ahhh..." The man broke into dry cries. The sound came ragged as if his throat was rubbed with a sand paper.

He marked another cut "This is for trying to harm my niece."

"Please...don't!" The man whispered in between his sobs.. His eyes were burning with unshed tears which seemed to dry in his eyes only as if they are also tired coming out again and again.

He marked one more cut "This is to harm my sister like bhabhi"

The man cried out in pain. He has several injuries on his body some cuts on arms.. Skin tore from his legs. Bruise on eyes and nose.

"Today you will plug out his nails." Rehan commanded his man and they bowed in respect. The man was trying to shout but his mouth was covered. He was constantly struggling to get free but failing miserably.

After commanding his men. Rehan left. He washed his hand to remove the blood stain from his hand.

Then, he left for his office. His clothes were composed and face void of any emotion. He was looking like a normal man.. Not at all like a person who has just shown someone his death and walked out without giving one..

Soon the moon started peeking from behind the clouds. The soft moonlight was brushing Meera's face as she was standing in the balcony.

A lone tear slid down her cheeks.

"My r@p*st is probably roaming free. Here, I am caged. I am scared to even step out of this house. How will I?? Everyone knows my past. They will taunt me. Other men will harass me. So, staying inside is better than suffering all those things again." She whispered to herself....or probably to the moon which had many scars but still somehow looked utterly beautiful in that sky, her eyes full of fear and tears.

DOWNSTAIRS----

Ting Tong------
The doorbell rang.

"Aarti beta go. Open the door." Shanti said and Aarti ran towards the door.
She opened it and saw a man standing there. He was well built. Charming. Handsome. 6'2 tall probably.

Yes, it is none other than Rehan. But is it the same Rehan of that basement?? ohh..hell naahhh!!! His face is handsome but eyes lacked the charm.. His body is composed... Clothes totally washed and clean.. Not a single stain....of blood or anything else..

"Yes sir. Any problem??" She asked him.

"Uhh... I am here for a marriage proposal." He said hesitantly. The words sounded strange from his mouth. He never thought to be at someone's door.. Not at all with a marriage proposal but his stubbornness of deal made him...

Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion and a but shock with the straightforwardness. But she hid her shocked expression quickly.

She gestured him to come inside. He nodded and hesitated a bit to take a step inside but did anyway.

"Who is it beta??" Shanti came out of the Kitchen.

He said in a calm voice "Namaste Aunty. I heard that you are looking for a man to for your daughter's marriage." . He wasn't looking a Mafia who just tortured his enemy so badly. He was looking like a normal man who came to marry and settle down with his family..

"Yes but how can we marry our daughter to you. We don't even know a single thing about you." Chandan replied from behind furrowing his brows and looking at Rehan with suspicion.

"That's why I am here uncle. I also know nothing about anyone." He replied...

"Weird." Aarti murmured looking at him from head to toe as if judging him so badly but just can't say it at his face.

"Okay let's talk." Shanti said and sat on the sofa with everyone.

"So where is your mom and dad." Chandan asked.

Rehan hesitated but then replied "Uncle... actually mom and dad died in a car accident a year ago." His voice was smooth.... There wasn't a single stutter or mistake in his words which can prove that it was a lie. A white lie.

"Ohh I am sorry." Chandan apologized. Rehan nodded.

"What is your name?" Shanti asked.

"Rehan." He replied.

Something clicked in Aarti's mind, her eyes widened in pure shock.
She spoke "Wait Rehan Sethi. The CEO of Sethi Diamonds??"

"Yes" He replied with a tight lipped smile. Controlling himself from smirking as he has got another person as a prove that how much...how much his name matters.

Everyone's eyes widened in shock.

"You came to marry our daughter." Shanti said in disbelief.
He nodded.

"If we agree then you will marry her??" Chandan asked.
He nodded. Again

(Author's Note :- Is aadmi ke paas shabd nahi he kya?? Wait is aadmi ko banaya bhi to mene he. Sorry πŸ˜“)

"Should we tell her about Meera's past??" Shanti whispers very lowly in Chandan's ear. He nodded negatively.

"Okay so we are ready for this marriage. But you have to promise that you will never hurt our daughter. You will never hurt her feelings. Never cheat on her and will spend your life with her. She is a bit self conscious so please try to give her love and care." Chandan said his voice clearly showing the concern for Meera.

"Yes uncle. I promise to you that I will never hurt her in any way whether it is emotionally or physically. I am well raised by my parents. Even for just few years but my parents have taught me of how to respect a woman very well. You don't need to worry about me doing anything rubbish with someone's daughter or sister." Rehan replied with a sudden most serious tone and Chandan looked at him.. His face was actually serious. Chandan can see the honesty in his voice.

"Hmm good. But even for once if I get to know anything wrong about your actions with her then... You better understand that." Chandan said. His voice was a warning but not angry.

Rehan nodded before speaking "Don't worry... I will take care of her more than myself. But... I have a condition."

Shanti and chandan nodded him in a gesture of 'go ahead'.

"I don't want any unwanted rituals in marriage. I want a direct wedding. No pre-rituals. My schedule is a little busu
Hope you will understand." He said.

"Fine. Fine. We are ready. Wait let me call Meera first." Chandan said.

"Meera beta. come downstairs." He called meera...

Meera came running and said "Jii.cha...."Β  her words died in jer throat and she froze as she saw a MAN... HER FEAR.

"Meera beta. He is Rehan. He came here with a proposal for you." Shanti said and Meera nodded. Her hands started trembling but she hid them behind her back.

"You both can go and talk in alone for sometime." Chandan suggested but Meera shook her head quickly in no..

"N--No chachu.. I--I trust your decision I am ready." She said quickly trying to refuse the suggestion and don't get alone in a place with a man..

She didn't looked at him just nodded in approval for this marriage.

"So when should we keep the wedding??" Shanti asked.

"If you are comfortable then Tomorrow?? You don't worry. Decorations will be done here from my side." Rehan said his voice was calm but his mind was anything... He was stealing glances from her. His eyes flickering again and again to her Purple orbs.

Shanti looked at Meera then at Chandan. He nodded at Shanti as if telling her to agree with gestures instead of words and she agreed.

"Okay so now. If I have you both's permission so can I leave??. The workers will come tomorrow morning sincerely without any delay." He said and Shanti and Chandan nodded granting him permission..

He bowed and touched both of them's feet before leaving.

After he left Chandan placed a hand on Meera's head and asked "Beta you are comfortable with this Marriage??" His voice full of concern.

"Yes chachu." Meera replied in a low voice. She was trying to control her tears but failed. She started crying and hugged her Chachu tightly. He soothed her for sometime and then she broke the hug slowly parting away from him and silently sobbing.

"Beta, you have to get married now. Trust us. Rehan is understanding and soft. He will never hurt you." Shanti said and Meera nodded with a tiny smile which was completely fake. She smiled just to make them believe that she is comfortable.

"I am not hungry chachu. I am going to sleep now. After all tomorrow is my wedding. I need to look good right." She said with a fake laugh trying to convince both of them to not doubt her because she don't have any ability and strength to answer any question and everyone nodded and chuckled.

She left and locked her room. She sat on her bed and covered her mouth with a pillow to avoid any noise before starting to cry. She cried for almost 2 hour and then washed her face.

"I have to leave now. How long I will be a burden on Chachu and Chachi. They have to take care of her own daughter Aarti also. I can't be a burden on them anymore. Maybe, this is my fate. Spending the rest of my life caged. Living with fear. Also, giving my future husband my body to fulfill his needs. But I... I can't do that. How can I agree to get intimate after what I have been through. That's it Meera. You have to forget your past now. After all he also wiΔΊl have some desires. Just attend him. Fulfill his desires and needs. You don't have any other option. You can't even kill yourself." She said to herself and touched the safety pin locket tied around her neck.

She remembered how Her chachi wasΒ  crying and begging her to wear that locket few years back.

"Beta...please wear it.. Please beta..we can't loose you." Shanti's words echoed in the back of her head.

(If someone is wearing this locket. It means they have promised to not kill themselves especially if they have tried before.)

She was lost in her own thoughts when sleep engulfed her. She slept hugging her pillow.
.

"Boss--- did they agree?" One of the man asked Rehan.

He smirked and replied "Obviously they had to agree. After knowing my business. Every parents want their daughter to marry a rich man. Don't worry. They don't know about my identity. After the contract will complete. I will provide her enough money to spend her life." He said.

Everyone nodded and left.

"I will take this deal from you." Rehan said to himself and sipped his wine.

"Did we do right, not informing him about Meera's past?" Shanti asked to Chandan

"Yes. Because if he get to know about it. He will not agree with this marriage. People will talk about her." He replied

"Yes you are right. Atleast she will have a man who will protect her from other men." Shanti said nodding her head.

"Now let's go and sleep. We have to wake up early tomorrow." She said (shanti)
